Have you ever noticed that after a friend of family member shares sad news, that you yourself start feeling sad alongside your friend or family member?
Well, that’s empathy! Empathy is the ability to "put yourself in someone elses shoes," and it is a really important skill for us all to build. So for today's session, we'll be making empathy bracelets, to help us empathize with others in our lives.
Empathy is the ability to understand how someone (even a complete stranger) is feeling.
Understanding what others are experiencing in any situation, even though it may be really different from what you are experiencing, is really important.
Children with more empathy are more likely to stand up to a bully because they can empathize with the person being bullied.
